Fontys University of Applied Sciences is one of the largest universities of applied sciences in the Netherlands, with 40,000 students and 5,000 employees. It offers a wide range of bachelor’s, master’s, and exchange programs in fields such as technology, business, health, social studies, and the arts. With campuses in cities in the south of the Netherlands like Eindhoven, Tilburg, Sittard, and Venlo, Fontys attracts both Dutch and international students. The university emphasizes practical, career-oriented education combined with academic knowledge and research. Its research groups and centers of expertise cooperate closely with students, teachers, companies, and organizations. With a strong focus on innovation, international collaboration, and personal development, Fontys prepares students for the global job market.
Specifically, the Fontys Centre of Expertise Health (CoE Health) focuses on fair opportunities for a healthy life for everyone. The CoE Health views health from a positive health perspective, with a focus on prevention, healthy behaviour, lifestyle, and health literacy through technical and social innovation. To that end, the CoE works together with healthcare organizations, government, industry, citizens, students, teachers, and other partners, integrating the knowledge and expertise of over 20 research groups from diverse disciplines (such as health and social sciences, economics, and engineering). Together with these partners, the CoE Health adresses socioeconomic health disparities. Cooperation takes place between research, education, and practice, as well as across disciplines and sectors. The CoE Health encourages, actively fosters, and supports these connections.
